Oxbow Islands
The Oxbow islands in the 1940's
The Oxbow islands came about from years of dredging in the canal, and it was a hot topic in the Oxbow Briefs. While the canal was being built, they dumped all the mud they scooped up into the Oxbow, piling it up over and over until these islands started to take shape.

Today, the aerial view of these islands make up the "B" in the Oxbow Apparel logo. The larger of the two islands named "Coyote Island," and the smaller of the two "Snake Island." The last standing Oxbow cottage belonged to Florence Rutter, and was destroyed in 2014.
The nature around the islands in Oxbow and the surrounding areas is very diverse. Hang out there for a bit, and you'll spot loads of different animals going back and forth between the islands. If you're really lucky, you might catch a glimpse of a deer wading through the shallow water to reach the islands.
Another well-known creature that calls the Oxbow waters home is the carp. The shallow spots in certain areas of the Oxbow make ideal breeding grounds for them. Residents of the Oxbow enjoyed both catching and feeding these fish.
